There is more to Trooper than the average beagle. Honestly, he originally came with some considerable baggage, which we have helped him to unpack in the year that he has been in the rescue. We believe he is now ready for adoption. Trooper has overcome his distrust of people, although his fear may surface with new folks from time to time. He now loves getting affection from his foster dad and wags his tail just a whole lot more. You could not have a better dog to play with your other dogs. There is never a hint of meanness or retaliation. Trooper is just a wonderful little spirit. He needs a family who can continue to show him patience and gentleness. He does do better with women than men, but his foster dad has certainly taught him men can be patient and gentle too. Because Trooper could be a flight risk, we would prefer that he go to a home with a securely fenced yard where taking him out on a leash is not necessary for him to play or potty. We can assure you from our experience that he will continue to grow in confidence but it will take time and in the meantime needs security and safety. Even with his little crumpled ear, Trooper is strikingly beautiful and the writer can most certainly attest to how easy it is to fall in love with him. :)
